This feature allows the admin (and users, depending upon permission settings) to add news stories to the site. They are sometimes referred to as articles in this module, which confuses them with articles that may appear in Subjects or CMpro. In MDP, we are striving towards the use of using consistent terminology and differentiate between news stories and articles. This module will be replaced in MDP 1.1 and use only news stories as the proper term, dropping the confusing articles
Typically, they are news stories, items of a time sensitive nature. While the feature can be used in other ways, it is as a news feature that it works best.
After clicking on Add Story, the admin will see several areas for this feature. First is the headline area wherein the headline, with a maximum of XX characters, is entered. Next is the text area. While the entire news story can be entered here, if it is lengthy, it is best to enter only a limited number of paragraphs in the story text area. The rest of the story can be entered in the extended text area. It can be separated into pages by entering a pagebreak. On the main page, that part of the story shown in the text area is displayed. The extended area text is accessed by clicking More in the news story. The entire story is then shown.
Note that both text areas may have text entered as either plain text, just as one types it, or formatted in HTML. Each section is independent of each other in that respect.
