Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) can be an excellent source of information and assistance for your visitors if they are comprehensive and written well. They can prevent many recurring questions. In fact, any recurring questions should be addressed in an FAQ.

In addition to the questions and answers entered by the site admin, MDP has the ability to allow site vistors to submit questions of their own by clicking on FAQ on the main menu and then on "Ask a question". The admin can then respond and add the question to the site.

The FAQ feature supports categories and visitors can select a category in which to add their questions, or select "Unsure" if applicable.

USAGE

Begin by creating your categories. Create top level (parent) categories by entering the category name in Category, selecting the language you wish it to appear under and clicking on Save. You create sublevel categories in a similar manner except that you also select the parent category that you want to place them under.

It would be a good idea to compose your categories and questions before adding them to the FAQ section as there is no easy way at present to change the order of them.

USAGE

Content - Clicking on Content provides access to the FAQ listings (the questions and answers).

Edit - This allows editing of the category name.

Delete - This deletes a category or subcategory and all the entries within it. There is a confirmation question asked before deletion.

This includes business owners and employees as well as individual divers and non-divers interested in learning about diving. Ours is an inclusive diving site. [Edit | Delete ] How do I register? Easy. On the main page, there is a block in the upper right hand corner entitled Member's Login. Click on the word here in Join us by clicking here! Enter a user name and password of your own choosing when asked for them. We'd prefer that you include at least your first name or nickname under Real name, but it isn't required. [Edit | Delete ] I registered but I can't login. What's wrong? Registrations are moderated, which means that your registration must be validated before you can login. It may be validated immediately, in a few minutes, or a few hours if we happen to be offline at the time you register. You will receive a notice when your registration has been validated. We began moderating registrations when spammers included our site in their targets to spread their scams and schemes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it was made necessary by those scurvy knaves and enables us to keep the site spam free. [Edit | Delete ] Are there any restrictions on choice of user name? Yes, a few. No registration will be approved if it uses a vulgarity or other offensive term. Access to our sitehas been approved by filtering software companies and we don't want to lose that over a poor choice of user names (or anything else). Even BESS, which has the most stringent requirements and safeguards, considers our site safe for children. Furthermore, you may not use the name of a company you are not affiliated with, such as a diving equipment manufacturer. Such names are reserved for the various companies. You may also not use any trademark or copyrighted term as a user name unless you represent the company who holds the rights to them. [Edit | Delete ] Will registration give me access to the entire site? Yes. The forum program is a separate program and had its own registration separate from that of the main site. However, as of July 10, 2004, due to some programming changes, it now uses the site registration, achieving a long held goal of a single registration for all functions on site. Please note that you must still login separately to the site and any of the forums. This will change in early 2005 when our new forum program has been finished. As a module like any other on our site, it will be fully integrated and logging into the site will have you logged in to the forum as well.
