He's just got a custom hack for PostNukes ShortURL's by the look of that. We have an adaptation for MD-Pro, but it works slightly differently. You need apache running with mod_rewrite enabled, more information can be found HERE

Hi Pete

If the top mentioned url structure is possible -

and if md has a adaptation please could you let me know where to find it - or is what you mean above a required change to the htaccess file ?

thanks in advance

Our adaptation is the default ShortURL's (aka AutoURL's) feature, as used to rewrite to either .htm/.html/.phtml. If you want a structure similar to the first poster you'll need to enable ShortURL's then edit your .htaccess with some custom rewrite rules, certainly not an easy task for most people.

I'm also interested in the subject and just started to dig on it... found some interesting stuff in the Wiki world; check this page http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Rewrite_Rules... the Apache documentation seems to be rather for pros, at least for me is not easy accesible

... or at least to have an address like http://mysitename/article-name.phtml ?

Did you manage to modify the <b>.htaccess</b> file to support such a thing ? and would it be possible to do this without any change in the providers' Apache config files which you cannot access ?

I did not manage and I was wandering if someone else with more coding skills did this ? For search engines it would be an "extra-bonus".

Thanks

Hello,

Even i want to do the same so that the links of the articles come up as http://mysite.com/article_name.html or phtml anything will do. I've succesfully made htaccess files for my own scripts but the one which is supplied with the mdpro is a bit too complicated for me. Can someone please help me out with this?

Thanks.
