I was wondering what others use for virus protection.
I am in the market for something new and value your opinion.
I have used Norton and McAfee
I have even used some freeware like Ad-Aware and SpyBot
What do you all use?
Thanks for the input!

OK Let me ask two more questions since I am getting nosy.
I have been looking at the Statistics section of my New MD-Pro site and have noticeds a lot of systems and browsers I have never heard of before. SO...
What Operating System do you use?
What Browser do you primarily use (I have notices some use multiple browsers)?
Along with the Protection Software.

I am just curious!

Thanks for the info.

Nod32 for the antivirus, cracking program. Tiny and works really well, very little cpu/memory usage, especially compared to Norton
WinXP for the OS
Mainly IE for the browser, but I do use FireFox quite a lot. The developer and JS debugging tools in FF are very impressive

I know this posting is from a long time ago, but its still important. Computer associates has a one year subscription for free at their estore. CA uses less cpu and memory then just about any other anti virus program on the market. Follow this link and click the free one year trial version. http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ You will have to provide your email address but dont worry you will not get a lot of spam from them.

I use Pc-Cillin for antivirus. Don`t really need one though. I have a very limited site visitation. The ones i use are trusted and for other ways to get a virus, well, i can`t stop that anyway and it takes me an hour to format and restore so i`m not worried like my friends. They are so affraid that the next step in their protection is unplugging the PC and locking it into a wault. Razz

Winxp pro / Going to try out Sun Solaris for server soon. Looks promising

I used IE for many years but after i tried Firefox there`s no turning back. Love Firefox. I use IE if necessary, so never.

I do use some apps like ad-aware and spybot and such sometimes.

I have the impression that if someone really wants to mess up your comp, they will do it somehow anyway so i don`t worry about it. I don`t have anything interesting anyway

Thanks Pete for the info on Nod32.

Kev I like CA as well. My year subscription ran out and so I started looking for something I could invest in.

Shorty I have never heard of Pc-Cillin. I haven't done search on it yet but am curious.

I have been off the Maxdev site for some time just poping in and out from time to time. i have mainly been tring to learn Linux.

I am using both Linux and XP at the moment and would like to eventually migrate completely to linux. I remember Pete saying some time back and I can't quote it off hand but it was something to the flavor of not switching to linux due to the amount of time involved in learning a new system. After having spent the last several months learning a new system I have to say it would have been easier to just stay with XP. But even though it has been dificult to learn I have enjoyed working in linux far greater than working in XP

Shorty I agree with you "If someone really wants to mess up your computer, they will do it somehow"

Thanks
Eddie
