Post subject: MDChannel 1.1

Jimminy Christmas! I went to download and unpack MDChannel 1.1 and the package has the whole MDPro cms packed in it! Do I have to reinstall MDPro to use it now? Are there new instructions somewhere for installing this?

Thanks,

If you are using MDPro 1.072 you don't need to reinstall, just replace it with MDChannel files except all files under your config directory. Backup first your database and it is recommended if you test it first in your local.

I will definitely try it on my test site first. Thanks! Smile Will it limit the modules I am able to use or will the pnAPI file be altered? The reason I am asking is that I have some modules using pnRender and that changes the pnAPI.

Thanks, Marie

Marie, MDChannel based on MDPro and the core systems are exactly the same. If your modules can run in MDPro so it will be the same in MDChannel as well. The different is with MDChannel you can filter your content based on Groups / Login users. With channel you can provide different theme specific to your user group. These functions are added to main MDChannel modules, News/Downloads/FAQ/ WebLinks and some optional modules such as CMpro and MDForum.

In terms of themes, MDChannel introduce the templating system. It is not a finish theme but a css structure template which can be customized through the Autotheme admin panel.

Hmmmm....just a note here.... I am having a problem with MDForum installing on the channel version. Is there a problem there? When I initialize and activate it doesn't give me any errors but when I try to go to the forum or the forum admin I get a blank white page with this. "Unable to acsess mdc_phpbb_users table, Instalation was either not completed or table is missing." and sure enough when I go to phpmyadmin the table is not there. None of the tables are actually installing. Great! I will reupload the module and try again and see what happens.

Just tested MDForum 1.0b3 and MDchannels 1.1 and it worked perfectly. All I can suggest is to double check your permissions on the MDForum dir and make sure the directory structure is correct.

Did the installation script run? If not, then the dir structure is wrong, or something hasn't been uploaded or is corrupt

Just redoing the whole thing now. After the problems I had last week the database looked strange when I looked at it. Looked like it was missing a bunch of tables. I am going to start over with a fresh install and see what happens. I noticed other things weren't looking right either. Sorry to bother. Will try again.
