Post subject: Theme & Module manipulation on JinanLIVE

Similar in concept to NateM's Tianjin Expats, my own expat site, http://www.jinanlive.com serving expats and locals in Jinan, Shandong province of China, is off and running with a spectacular new theme & setup. With the use of the mdBlank theme & shortURL's, I got 3 new subsections of the site.

Travel, Careers & Nightlife, all easily accessible as follows:
www.jinanlive.com/Travel.html , www.jinanlive.com/Careers.html , www.jinanlive.com/Nightlife.html ... no index.php&file=.. none of that!

And with tons of custom templates & a list of about 40 autoblocks now, it's quite the accomplishment! I'm happy with the results, and I'm only hoping the headache will soon go away!

Now that it's over, I'm taking that template to the rest of my sites too!

Post subject: Subsections!

Hi,
congratulation for Jinan Site! I appreciated very much your use of subsections.
It's a usefull characteristic I'd like to learn... Rolling Eyes I have to admit I'm a newbie in MDPro development, too.

How did you link, for example, the Nightlife.html page to the Autotheme engine?
Regards

I took MDblank (somewhere in the downloads section) and then took a copy of the index.html in the themes & renamed it nightlife. Then in autotheme, I took the Nightlife Mod (what used to be called MDBlank) and changed the index.html to nightlife. did the same for left & right blocks. I had leftblock-nl & rightblock-nl in place of leftblock & rightblock.

Hope that made sense. I got a pretty bad hangover today.

Yes, of course. It made sense. Not so bad as hangover! Smile

I took C-MD as theme and I tried to add subsections following instructions, rules, suggestions... but simply it ignores everything but theme.html.
I'll open a new topic on this...
Thanks anyway!
