Post subject: Some fixes and changes to the zClassifieds module

Hi,

I have made a couple of fixes to the zClassifieds module.

Functional fixes:
1. on the front page the "index" link is not shown (that is pointing to the same page). It only appears in categories below
2. in case of those categories where it is not possible to add classifieds, added a new text to the menu that says something like "To list an add, select a category" ... this is replaced by the "List an ad" text whenever it is possible to list an ad.
3. There was a bug related to "More categories" ... (_MORECAT define) so that was not working. Now it does. Anytime you enter a "root" category that has no parent, any additional root categories are displayed on the screen as "More categories"
4. I temporarily disabled the notifications feature (virtually, meaning that the link is not shown) due to two reasons: unsubscribe is not implemented in the script and the email is hardcoded to the notifications DB so any email change in the user admin panel would not be used. I want to fix these when I get there.
5. Added a new define "zINDEX", otherwise the INDEX define was pulled from languages/Global (on my install anyhow) ... so now in the zClassifieds you can say "Classifieds top" or something, and that will not interfere with the other INDEX defines
6. Changed the length of the city and country fields to 30 (I am using these for Real Username and Telephone) ... this is irrelevant for anyone, if the lang define is unchanged, apart from the field being slighlty longer
7. made the price field longer and accepting any text ... so the user can say "around 10-15 euros" etc and you are not limited to a precise price

Changes for our own purposes (which you may not like)
1. Changed the length of the State field to 100 (I am using that for "Address" and not state, but that is only reflected in the lang define)
2. commented out the images feature until I figure out what to do with it on our own system
3. commented out the paypal link (Hungary... you can't accept money w/ paypal in Hungary yet so I can't use it)
9. commented out the map link (Hungary again and perhaps EU, the link to maps.com does not recognise say Budapest)

Appearance fixes:
1. made the top a bit better distributed, there is slightly more space between the main logo / title / search box
2. moved the original copyright info to the right and made the letters smaller. Otherwise it was overly obtrusive to me

This is it. You can see it (in Hungarian) at http://www.nyelviforum.hu/zClassifieds.html. Although it is in Hungarain it should show the main changes using the above guide.

My point is, overall: I am happy to publish it here if there is interest, in light of the above. I don't know if any of the changes influence the postnuke usage, and I found the creators' site fairly confusing so I thought I would just drop this message on the MDPro forum.

Let me know if you want to have it, plus how to change the versioning, or if I should notify the original authors (this is the first GPL thing I am about to publish) and then I'll upload.

Regards,

Istvan

Istvan,

There's loads of different modified versions of this module already, which version did you base your changes on? As the version at Duster's site is the most up to date and best version IMO

The one I downloaded from this site early October or so. It says 2.2 but I don't know any further.

Is Duster's version still available, (and is that any different from the "2.2" module available in downloads here?). I just tried to access his site and wasn't getting anything.

Hi,

I use the classified module and the latest is the 2.2 by Duster which is available in the download area.

I tried using that zClassifieds Module, but the one I'm referring to is PN_zClassifieds, which is a little different. It seemed much more customizeable than zClassifieds was.
