Post subject: MDForum for MDLite

We are working to release a fist beta release of MDForum very soon, but I have some quesitons

Because MDLite don't have private messages system and MDForum is needed almost always in community, do you like to have new MDForum version with private messages included ?

Do you like to have other addons included, for example like youtube addon to show youtube video's in your post ?

Do you have suggestions about ... let us know

on a few test installations, MDForum works well on MDLite - so why create a new one? And if: will it be MDPro-MDForum compatible (for upgrade/switch to MDForum-MDLite)?
like Slavakov, also my opinion: a message module for MDLite that works like MDPro ms with MDForum...

So you have more time to concentrate on MDForum and Add-Ons witch works on MDLite and Pro.

Since MDForum beta has relesed, I use it and what I'm missing:
- XS BBCode 1.08 from CyberAlien (vs. expand-select: have a Download link, line numbers and lines)
- a "report bad post" link
- SkypeMe link

By the way: Since MDLite I thought, MDPro will be replaced by MDLite, or am I wrong?

Is not a new one, is a new version.
We already have version with phpbb messages integrated, lot of people ask us about this messages module because they can manage attachments, quotas, etc ...

xs bbcode i think is needed only for dev's
report bad post ....that can be nice
skypeme .... maybe yes

MDLite == MDPro, before we have MDPro 1.076, today we have MDPro 1.080 alias MDLite, we have released just 1.079 because it still in RC version and because soon we have some suprises, but remember MDLite is MDPro Smile

I'll second the "report bad post" mod.
The Youtube plugin would be great.
I'd also like to see the member lists kept in there as well, so that I can place my members in order of numbers of posts without having to create a huge "Top Posters" block. I have a special private forum for folks who have been around a long time, and sometimes I forget which ones have been upgraded. Being able to sort through them in this manner would make things a lot easier for me. Conversly, integrating forum post counts into the regular "Members List" module could also work.

I will do so. Razz

An important Option in case of spammer (today I must delet 899 Users):
- automatic Spamfilter

but would be better in MDLite to put some Options to prevent against spammer etc. (automatic Blacklist of e-Mail and IP with www.ordb.org and www.spamhaus.org)

Hi TiMax,

I would agree with the mdforum pm system integrated to mdlite.
The phpbb message system is very easy to administer, espacially in managing attachments.
Also i guess it makes a more unique outlook and smarter integration on the user side.

I agree with addons as "Youtube" integration. Would be a great thing.
Spamfilter would be a good thing too.

Do you know when we can await the new MDForum?
Are milestones available?

Regards

Frank

Here's a suggestion: a new block that could display a poll chosen by the administrator, as well as the ability to let non-registered users vote in MDForum polls. It looks like a polls module might be a ways off, and if possible, I think having front page polls integrated into the forum, with links to the discussion, etc, (similar to what can be done with vBulletin), would be better anyways.

Also, there seems to be a bug with the 2.0.6 forum in use right now where you can't search more than once. There is an error where it says "Could not delete old search id sessions". Just might want to check that out.

So 2.0.7 was release recently. Excellent! Thank you guys for your work on this.

My question: is it still compatible with 1.076?

No sorry it is not compatible with MDPro 1.076
Also MDPro 1.076 is not supported now and it contains several dangerous bugs, so we INVITE alll admins to update ASAP

Thanks for the response. I was actually waiting for MDForum with private message to upgrade the rest of the site, so looks like that's next on the agenda.

Cheers!

Maybe you can wait a little because we are working to release a new MDPro version 1.082 with several improvements, lot of fix's and some new features Smile

Ok, so just to be sure I understand correctly, even when 1.0.82 comes out, there won't be a way to directly upgrade from 1.0.76 to the new version? The reason I ask, is because I need to know how all the data for news, forums, users, etc. gets migrated from a working 1.0.76 site to a working 1.0.82 site.

For security reason what you need to do asap is to upgrade 1.076 to the last MDLite version from our download. Then upgrade your MDForum as well
