Post subject: Having a terrible time installing modules for MDLite

I've been able to get MDLite up and running, but thus far have had a real difficulty getting a lot of the additional modules, (from MDMods.com), working. Googlemaps, Siteinfo, and chat all are not functioning. I talked to Pete over on MDMods.com and it seems that at least Siteinfo and GoogleMap can be traced back to this error:

Fatal error: Smarty error: [in modules/GoogleMap/templates/GoogleMap_admin_markers.htm line 25]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'img' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 583) in /home/.hazlenut/tianjine/tianjinexpats.net/testingarea/libs/render_sma rty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Quote:
Yes, as I said in that other topic, your MDLite installation can't find/read that plugin. The Autorender function atFastDisplay used in the earlier version of GoogleMaps will give a blank page if there's an error.

So now everything is reporting the same problem with your MDLite installation. Only other thing I can suggest is to copy function.const.php from the central plugin area (\libs\render_smarty\plugins\api\) to the GoogleMaps module plugin area (\modules\GoogleMap\templates\plugins\)

Note that even if this works it'll just prove a problem with your MDLite installation, so you'll have to consult the MAXdev guys. As it'll be a problem with how the function file_get_contents_from_smarty finds the plugin directories and they'll probably have to do some debugging with why it can't find the correct path

I've tried re-installing, re-downloading MDLite, installing in a different area and a different database, all to no avail. Any help people could send my way would be appreciated.

You're one stage further on there Nate. Notice how the error now says unrecognized tag 'img' instead of unrecognized tag 'const'

Did you copy the function.const.php to the GoogleMap plugin directory like I advised? If so, try again wtih function.img.php as well

@MAXdev staff: I think Autorender isn't correctly finding the path inside the file_get_contents_from_smarty function. I suspect this is because of cgi configuration and that $_SERVER["SCRIPT_FILENAME"] returns empty

Balls to it, I'll debug MDLite myself for you Nate. If possible can you send me a username/password for your FTP site and I'll take a look when I get home from work. admin@mdmods.com thanks. Think you'll get a lot quicker resolution if I do it.
