Post subject: Charge for PN_zClassifieds ads
I'm considering using PN_zClassifieds on my site that is under development at this time and would like the option to charge the advertiser for posting their ads. I've had a quick look over ithe module and it seems lacking in some areas as above.....
I have checked out 'www.techniovore.info' and have downloaded the latest 2.1 V and there is comment on their site about a complete write and a new version shortly. I have not questioned them on the subject but will doe so.
Can anyone help???
1. Has anyone done a hack for a complete shopping basket intergration?
2. Has anyone had good results using this module?

I can provide some information. I've been a beta tester for PN-zClassifeds for awhile (in fact, often THE beta tester). I communicate with Themis (the developer) fairly regularly. Based on features I suggested that others have asked for (charging for ads, as an example), he is going to release a commercial version with features such as being able to charge for ads. There will be a fee for the commercial version. A new free version is planned also and some of the other products will see new versions following this same philosophy, free versions and commercial ones with features that enable admins to make money from them.
There will probably be a name change with the new versions. There is often confusion between PN_zClassifieds and ZClassifieds and I've made some suggestions to end that confusion, including tnvClassifieds or tvrClassifieds where the tnv or tvr stand for Technivore.
As far as PN-zClassifieds, I like the module and use it on my site. It has a lot of features overall. If you compare it to the various products at e-classifieds.net, you'll see that it is a real bargain, especially being free. The admin features are much better than with e-classifieds. I should know, I had both the Professional version ($350) and later the Commerce version ($700) on my HTML site. A client of a friend bought the $1500 Personals version and support was terrible. I stopped recommending them to anyone looking for a good classifieds program.
The commercial features that many have asked for will be added soon to PN_zClassifieds. I'm not aware of any other classifiieds module that has commercial features although they have been frequently requested.

Duster you sound like you may be able to help me out...
I downloaded zClassifieds 2.2 and it does look really nice. Everything worked perfect with no hassles. Here is what I need though: I am setting up a Personal's section on my website and I really don't need or want the mandatory price fields and everything else. Pretty much all I really need are the ad title, text box.
I would like to remove Asking Price, Condition, and the Paypal feature. Can this be done?

Guess again.
PN-zClassifieds and zClassifieds are two different programs.
Please read the posting guidelines. One point is about not latching on to someone else's discussion.Another is not to duplicate posts You have already inquired in a separate discussions. Still another is to suggest you look on the home site of the module, which is bound to have more information on it than we do. That would be your best recourse.

Hi,
I looked at the technivore site and the PN-zClassifieds seems to be impressive.
If you have used it, could you please let me know if it is capable to achieve the following (assuming an MDPro CMS):
I want to make sure that all registered users are able to post, but only users in a certain group are able to see the detailed access information of the poster (those who have paid of course).
My expectation after having read the technivore description is a yes, but I just want to be sure as MDPro is not mentioned on their site.
Thanks
Istvan

MD-Pro's permissions system is exactly the same as PostNuke's. So if that permission scheme works on PN it'll work on MD-Pro as well

One of our users (Laurent) commissioned several changes to PN_zClassifieds, including an easier installation method. You can find it at the site in my sig. It is even more impressive that the module it improves upon.

and what this means?
perhaps you want to post a problem but you have posted the standard message ...
Hi guys, I posted a long list of request for help and the entire message disappeared. If I didnt follow rules, pl let me know what I was missing:
I was referring to my site www.mayabazaar.org and my question was related to pn_zclassifieds module running on postnuke.
Question: (reposted again).
I want to edit the home page subcatagories to 1) display few subcats for argonomical view and there should be "more" link to expand all sub catogaries in a new window 20 change the font size of sub catogories to be less than the main catogories 3) Want to specify global rule ie. classifieds can be related to specific city surroundings and users should be able to pick options to change their city . Pl let me know any suggestions
1) display few subcats for argonomical view and there should be "more" link to expand all sub catogaries in a new window
In the module configuration you can only choose whether to view the sub-categories on the home page or not see them.
To make the change you want you need to change php code and this change takes a little time. However, the file that you'll need to change is this:
"pn_zclassifieds/index.php"
and modify the code after the following "if": if($config['displayhomesubcat']) {

2)change the font size of sub catogories to be less than the main catogories
You have to change the style sheet of the module.
Open file "pn_zclassifieds/style.css" and seeks a class like "classifieds-main-sub-categories"
Change class to your liking. For example, to decrease the size of the font: font-size: 11px;

You'll need to change the file of your language.
Open the file "pn_zclassifieds / lang / eng / global.php" and search the following "define":
Code:
define('_RULES','The Rules');
define('_RULES1','Your ad must be related to the content of our site.');
define('_RULES2','Employment and business opportunities should be in pertinent fields as well.');
define('_RULES3','For merchandise, please list specific items. This is not meant to be a general advertisement for vendors.');
define('_RULES4','For merchandise, do not list items already listed on ebay or committed elsewhere. Any items listed here must be available for direct and immediate sale.');
define('_RULES5','All ads that do not meet these conditions will be rejected or removed.');
If you want to add other rules you have to create new "define". For example:
Code:
define('_RULES6','Your new rules here.');
then open the file "pn_zclassifieds/rules.php" and enter the new define at the point where you want to appear. For example:
Thankyou Sir. I played through the style sheet and realized that pn_zclassifieds is using postnuke parent stylesheet and editing pn_zclassifieds/style.css is not taking any effect. But your trick if($config['displayhomesubcat']) {
worked. I simiply commented few statements and sub cats are no longer showing on the home page. However, it would be great to have em in a sizable table format.. probably later version .
Regarding Rules: I am not sure how this will imply visitng customers. Ie, how to define each state and then each city under that state within the rule and then how will the browser save the location chosen by visiting customer? Any throughs or better way to do it?
Also, pn_zclassifieds is showing all the catagaories in two columns . Is there a way I can change it to show the same in 3 or more coloumns ?
