Post subject: Mdpro 1.076 and Autotheme

I really need autotheme, but as the current mdpro 10821 doesnt support autotheme, i have now downloaded the older version mdpro 1.076.tar.gz file. Spidean.com say that the only mdpro which autotheme supports is 1.07x

1. I am happy to use 1.076, but i wish to know, has the areafiles download file included the old security fix with it? or will i have to patch this myself with the available security patch?

2. and Also......... will the 1.082 banners module run on 1076? as i need to run advertising on every single page of my website for my clients..... is about 6 pages

thanks

MDPro 1076 is a very old and unsupported version, it is not wise to use it.

Well, MD-Pro is built upon the free AT-Lite which run AutoTheme themes, however it seems that the maxdev team has changed the name of AutoTheme to AutoRender and broken the compatibility with the commercial version. This seems in conflict with an agreement I had with TiMax. I'll contact him and see if we can straighten it out.

I really don't understand this post.

First and most important MDPro 1.076 is a very old code, with several bugs and security issues, MDPro 1.076 is now UNSUPPORTED by MAXdev staff from long long time, almonst one year.
MDPro 1.076 contain Autotheme, with release of MDLite series alias MDPro 1.08x we removed and stop supporting and developement of Autotheme too because we have introduced Autorender

Quote:
Autorender Module

This is one of the most important new features that will be introduced by MDLite. Autorender is the technical, graphical and functional evolution of the well-known AutoTheme. Autorender has been developed by MAXdev's staff and makes use of the popular Smarty templating system. The graphical layout has been totally revised, and new features have been added, including an online manual and cache handling.

Autorender is an HTML themes handler for Content Management Systems (CMS): MDLite. It allows the developer to completely separate HTML from php code, so that it is easier than ever to design new web templates without using php code. This means that you can use your favorite editor. Moreover, Autorender gives you the freedom to customize every single area of your website, including block display, custom templates, custom user pages, administration pages and custom modules. AutoBlocks offers you the choice to place blocks in every page and every position. All Autorender settings can be easily modified within its administration panel.

Autorender supports AutoTheme commands; therefore, it supports all AutoTheme's themes. It can use functions specific to the theme, and it supports Smarty tags. With MDLite's built-in support for Smarty, new theme development will become easier and more flexible than ever. Smarty tags can be placed inside both page and block templates.

With Autorender, you are not forced to use templates for every module and/or block. You can simply customize those areas of your site which you consider of vital importance, and ingore the others. You can even combine Autorender power, through its Smarty tags, with AutoTheme easiness to create even more complex themes, for those pages that require a more structured and complex design.

We're working to develope new version of MDPro 1.085 with lot of new fonctions, with this version we will introduce also a new version of Autorender improved and optimized, with a easy, fast and powerfully way to manage design of your site.

Yes, sorry. It was quite a while ago that we discussed this. I was under the false impression that AutoRender at the time was just the module template rendering engine. Digging back through my emails I see the discussion that AutoTheme was renamed AutoRender and to get themes to work you must either modify or replace the theme.php. AutoTheme should still work fine if I add some function_exists() for all functions that I call, like pnbannerdisplay().

Thanks!

I don't really like wen you say that maxdev team simply renamed autotheme to autorender, it is not true, MAXdev staff is working on Autorender, and someone who use MDpro for business is paying external programmers for a faster development, so thanks for your work and your contributions, but please consider also the work and investments of the other people.
